failure thinking

I hear people programming themselves for failure: consistent use of negative language, persistent choice of words that speak of defeat and failure before the battle is even joined, speaking the language of self-doubt. Unknowingly, they are sowing the seeds of their own self destruction. First, your subconscious attempts to make come true everything it hears you say and your body hears every word you say. Your body/subconscious not only hears everything you say, it usually totally BELIEVES every word you say and often tends to take you literally.

Secondly, the world takes you at your own self-appraisal. If you do not believe in yourself, in your problem solving ability, in your work ethic, in your potential, then very few others will either. Attitudes are contagious and doubt breeds doubt.

Third, self-fulfilling prophecy occurs. Studies show that both optimists and pessimists tend to be a bit off on their assessment of probable outcomes. BUT optimists succeed more often. Why? Because they have confidence in their ability to create success, they try more often, they try harder and they try longer. Losers have a million reasons why they can’t, winners find a reason why they must.
