keep-stepping

The “Beast” is whatever seemingly insurmountable challenge faces you, the one you can’t seem to get a handle on, the one that you just don’t know where to start, that you don’t see a path through.

Solution? Just do what is in front of you, do what you can do, even if it is somewhat random, as long as it is effort directed forward. Over time, you will be amazed at the progress you will make and the lessons you will learn (some taught by failure) that will make you more effective and your potential path clearer. Visualizing things, including my emotions, helps clarify them for me. Facing the challenges of personal growth in my younger years, I saw it as a huge rambling decrepit Dickenson abandoned country manor, full of dusty, broken furniture and stuffed to the ceiling with boxes and accumulated debris. The cleanup task was overwhelming and in my mind I stood there not knowing where to start, daunted by the sheer magnitude of the task. Finally one day I gave a sigh, walked in, somewhat randomly picked a room and began. It took years and years (and in many respects continues today) but I eventually mastered that “beast” through persistent “whacking away”, one day at a time, day after day. As the saying goes: inch at a time, life is a cinch.

As always, I share what I most want/need to learn. – Nathan S. Collier
