Feedforward is in contrast to feedback. Feedback often focuses on what people have done wrong in the past. Thus it frequently engenders emotional resistance as people tend to both avoid and then reject negative information that might threaten their self-concepts or egos.

Feedforward avoids resistance by focusing on what people need to do in the FUTURE to prepare for or obtain some advancement or achievement in which they have an emotional investment.

By concentrating on change needed to accomplish future goals and tasks, it is possible to have a more positive and more effective conversation.
